2008 Honorary Chair -- Vanessa Echols
|
|
Vanessa Echols has been actively involved with the Central Florida Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for several years and we are very excited to have her as Honorary Chair again in 2008.
You have seen Vanessa Echols on WFTV Channel 9 as she has been anchoring the Eyewitness News Daybreak and Eyewitness News at Noon since 1992. Recently, Vanessa began anchoring Eyewitness News This Morning on WRDQ, Central Florida’s TV 27.
As a breast cancer survivor, Vanessa Echols knew that she had to share her story and help educate others about breast cancer. After sharing her story with viewers in Central Florida on WFTV Channel 9, Vanessa began getting many opportunities to speak at community events and get involved with local efforts to fight cancer.
Vanessa Echols became actively involved in the Susan G. Komen Central Race for the Cure® by serving on the Race Committee to help plan our biggest annual fundraiser. Vanessa has played a huge role in our past races and we are excited to have her continue to help educate woman and get the message out that “Early detection saves lives.”
But, Vanessa Echols always knew she should be doing more. So, Vanessa created COMPASSIONATE HANDS AND HEARTS BREAST CANCER OUTREACH, INC.–a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization to help others who are dealing with breast cancer. Compassionate Hands and Hearts is an outreach organization that provides help to woman going through breast cancer and their families. For more information, go to compassionatehandsandhearts.org.
